The Acupuncture and Wellness Center is a relaxing healing center that offers several holistic modalities, including acupuncture, massage, shiatsu, Chinese herbal medicine and tuina. All of these modalities support the body's own healing mechanisms. They improve overall health to help you feel and function better. Our practitioners are skilled, gentle and treat a variety of illnesses and injuries.

Common Terminology:

Craniosacral Therapy is a channeling of healing energy delivered from the compassionate heart through sensitive hands. It is especially helpful in the treatment of TMJ, headaches, scoliosis, and ear infections.

Foot Reflexology: Foot reflexology is an ancient form of “pressure treatment” and involves applying focused pressure to certain foot reflex points which correspond to other areas and organs in the body. There are over 7,200 nerve endings in each foot. These nerve endings connect to nerve pathways leading to each organ, gland and limb of the body. Foot reflexology releases endorphins to reduce pain, relieves congestion in the body, and is capable of improving the function of all body systems, leaving you with a feeling of harmony and balance. Some recognized benefits of reflexology include increased circulation, relaxation, pain relief and greater facilitation of any other energy method used.

The Golden Legend Herbal Body Wrap combines massage, a blend of Chinese herbs, and aromatic oils to exfoliate, relax and detoxify the body. This luxurious treatment leads you into a deep, meditative and restful state.

Meridian Yoga includes Shiatsu (acupressure) massage, and PNF/Resistance-Stretching to open and balance each of the 14 meridians, improving the health and functioning of the associated organs.

Reflexology works specific reflex areas and points in the feet that relate to particular areas and systems of the body. This wonderful foot massage can treat many ailments, and is very soothing and energizing for the entire body.

Reiki: Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. It works with and restores the energetic centers known as the chakras. It is said that Reiki is older than any written accounts of humanity. During a treatment in Reiki, the certified practitioner will act as a conduit of universal energy and direct this energy into the chakras by placing her hands upon them for a short time (5 minutes). Reiki is used to help both physical and emotional ailments in humans and animals.

Relaxation or Swedish Massage Therapy uses long, smooth strokes to soothe your body, mind and spirit and help reduce stress. Aromatherapy oils and hot stones are available to enhance your treatment.

Shiatsu: Shiatsu is sometimes referred to as 'acupressure”, or as acupuncture without needles. The term shiatsu actually means “finger pressure”. Shiatsu has evolved from a 5,000 year old Oriental tradition of healing arts. It is a Japanese therapy with origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Oriental massage techniques. Shiatsu itself has been around for at least three thousand years.
Shiatsu does not profess to cure, but can help the person on their way to a better state of well-being. Some conditions that shiatsu treats include backache, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, whiplash, migraines, arthritis, menstrual issues, gastrointestinal issues, sports injuries, post surgery trauma, depression, general tiredness, kidney disorders, anorexia, asthma, infertility problems, pure relaxation and more.

Sotai: The theory of sotai is based on the belief that it is tight muscles that pull bones out of place. Sotai is a series of simple but highly effective stretches that move the body back into alignment. Unbalanced posture can lead to structural weakness, bad circulation and physical disease. Our posture also mirrors how we feel emotionally and how we cope with life issues. Sotai works to balance the muscles, re-align the skeleton, and strengthen the function of the organs and nervous system. Sotai is an important part of self-therapy. This process of postural change challenges our feelings about ourselves and pushes us to grow and gain peace.

Specific Injury Massage is a deeper, therapeutic massage that can help ease pain from overuse injuries and offer relief for shoulder, back, neck and joint problems.

Thai Massage: An Indian physician named Shivago Bhucca developed Thai massage over 2500 years ago. Mostly it has been used in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. Its main purpose it to facilitate deeper meditation. Thai is similar to Shiatsu in respect to basic theory, but there is much more stretching and rocking involved. Thai is an amazing modality, slightly more aggressive than Shiatsu. Thai will enhance your yoga practice, athletic ability, martial arts, dancing techniques, energy work and meditation.
